Dr. Kris Montgomery

Dr. Montgomery is the heart and soul of Brighton Veterinary Clinic with her commitment to nurturing lasting relationships with expertise and compassion. As the managing partner and Medical Director, she has been caring for clients and patients since 2001! She grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and then graduating from the University of Kentucky! (Go CATS!) Her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree was awarded from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. 

Dr. Montgomery's professional interests are focused on wellness, internal medicine, palliative care, nutrition, and alternative options. Dr. Montgomery currently resides in Lexington with her husband and stepson. Outside the clinic, Dr. Montgomery enjoys hiking, skiing, walking, and scrapbooking. Her beloved Shetland Sheepdog, Lizzie, and her cats, Gibson and Layla, are constant reminders of why she loves animals and her job!

Dr. Julianne Walden

Dr. Julianne Walden joined the Brighton Animal Clinic team in January 2013. She grew up in Woodford County, Kentucky surrounded by dogs, cats and horses. She completed her bachelor's degree at Oberlin College before going to The Ohio State University, where she obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. While having experience in both general practice and emergency medicine, her professional focus at Brighton is Surgery, Dentistry, wellness, and internal medicine. Why Brighton?

In her words, "not only is the clinic beautiful, but the compassionate staff and our patient-focused philosophy and desire to connect with and educate patient families makes it a great place to do good work." Her family shares their farm with a dog and 2 cats. She spends her free time hiking, whitewater  kayaking, mountain biking and traveling.

  • Dr. Candace Thompson

    ASSOCIATE VETERINARIAN

    Dr. Candace Thompson grew up here in Lexington and has been a part of the Brighton family for several years, having done her preceptorship at the clinic during vet school! She attended the University of Kentucky for her undergraduate studies and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. She officially joined the team in 2020. Dr. Thompson enjoys taking care of clients and patients, but especially the babies! Her professional interests include wellness, internal medicine, dermatology, surgery, dentistry, and exotics. Outside the clinic she enjoys crocheting, knitting, and spending time with her sassy dilute tortoiseshell kitty, Nutmeg. (She is currently accepting new patients!)

  • Dr. Nikolette Birky

    ASSOCIATE VETERINARIAN

    Dr. Nikolette Birky has been a compassionate and dedicated veterinarian at Brighton Animal Clinic since 2022. Her major professional interests are in wellness, internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and dermatology. She was born in Columbia Falls, Montana and attended Stetson University in Florida for her undergraduate studies. She was awarded her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Lincoln Memorial University, where she completed a research externship focusing on the osteogenic potential of equine bone marrow stem cells. Outside the clinic, Dr. Birky enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and their two Standard Poodles, Eris and Guinevere. (She is currently accepting new clients!)

  • Dr. Charlotte Salin

    ASSOCIATE VETERINARIAN

    Dr. Charlotte Salin, or "Dr. Charlotte", has been a wonderful addition to Brighton. She is originally from Lille, France! Dr. Charlotte completed her bachelor’s degree at Texas Wesleyan University and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, from Iowa State University. She loves getting the chance to help her clients and patients. Her professional interests include wellness care, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery, and has a passion for feline medicine. Dr. Charlotte resides in Lexington with her husband, two dogs, Echo and Thalpius, and four cats, Artemis, Finn, Hestia, and Marzy. Outside the clinic, Dr. Charlotte enjoys spending time with family, reading, hiking, and playing video games. (She is currently accepting new clients!)

    Hannah has a love of helping animals and people. She has been involved in the animal and medical world as a Shepherdess, Educator, Author, and Veterinary Technician. Her business background includes Marketing/Sales and Project Management. She is partial to herding breeds, especially Shelties, Livestock Guardian Dogs and socializing foster kittens in her office!
